Claire Norman

Executive Director

With great enthusiasm, Claire Norman steps into the role of Executive Director at United Way of Gordon County. She is excited about this new opportunity, and is dedicated to upholding our fundamental values. Claire recognizes the interconnected nature of the key challenges within our community. She is determined to utilize her skills in uniting people and mobilizing resources to address these issues. She envisions a future for Gordon County where no individual has to make the difficult choice between food and bills, and where no child goes to bed hungry. Claire is devoted to creating safe environments for children of all ages while their parents are at work, ensuring that they return to a nurturing atmosphere. Her dream is to establish a community where domestic and child abuse is met with all the necessary support to guarantee a safer, brighter future. She is confident that by uniting with our Partner Agencies, businesses, and volunteers, we can transform this vision into a practical reality. Claire previously lived in Gordon County for twenty years. She was a proud member of the Calhoun Woman's Club and helped to raise money for many organizations through the Sequoyah Ball. Through this affiliation, she realized there was a need for a safe place for school-age kids to go, so she took on the mission of starting the Boys & Girls Club here in Gordon County. With Boys & Girls Clubs of Gordon, Murray & Whitfield Counties, she volunteered both on the corporate board as President and local Area Committee. Claire joined forces with the Gordon County Government to write and win funding through the Community Development Block Grant, which provided the seed money needed to purchase the building now housing the Boys & Girls Club on Wall Street. In 2008, Claire was presented with the National Medallion from the Boys & Girls Club of America. When not at work, she enjoys listening to live music, and entertaining with friends and family. You will also often find her on the golf course with her husband, Wayne or spending time with their puppies, Divot and Bogey. Claire is looking forward to working with the United Way Agencies, Community, and Business Partners in Gordon County. She has the skills and drive to prove United is the Way to a thriving Gordon County!
