Impacting Gordon County

We are united in our desire to help Gordon County be the best place to live and work, which is why we are United4Gordon.  When we all work together, there is no amount too small and no task too great to make an impact.  We are committed to ensuring our community has access to programs supporting education, basic needs, and health.  We are also committed to helping our Partner Agencies and grant recipients be the best they can be through education and partnership opportunities.

How is United Way of Gordon County United4Gordon?

  • Community Investment and Allocating Funds to support the work of Partner Agencies.

  • Promotion of the United4Gordon work through monthly newsletters reaching 1,700 individuals.

  • Hosting weekly radio shows that highlight the work of Partner Agencies, Community, and Business Partners.

  • Hosting monthly networking meetings that bring together local Partners on the first Thursday of the month.

  • Hosting monthly lunch and learn Impact meetings are free for the community.

  • Advocating for the needs of our community and working with others to make an impact on those needs.

  • In Progress:  Creating a comprehensive local resource guide for Partners.

Community Investment

In 2023, our United Way Partner Agencies provided 66,748 individual services to 6,251 individuals living in Gordon County.  

  • 2,480 individuals received 36,813 individual services related to basic needs.  These services included hot meals, groceries, emergency shelter, and other financial assistance.

  • 709 domestic violence victims received 3,538 services, including safety tools, shelter, advocacy, and support.

  • 1,260 individuals received services to help improve their parenting roles through parent-child visitation, parenting classes, and other family-centered services.

  • 9,790 services were provided to kids through after-school programs supporting education, leadership, and sporting programs.

  • 13,186 educational services were provided to men, women, and children of all ages.

We support our Community Partner Agencies that work to ensure every child has a strong start in life.

Your donation to United Way helps:

  • Provide mentoring, safe places to play, tutoring, and leadership development.

  • Enhance school readiness and strengthen family dynamics.

  • Keep youth on track for school, work, and life.

  • Ensure strong, healthy foundations for children that will positively affect their lifelong outcomes.

  • Help families with parenting growth opportunities to encourage and support families.

  • Provides education and support to help parents understand child abuse prevention.

  • Adults have access to free GED exams.

BASIC NEEDS

We support our Community Partner Agencies that provide basic needs support:

Your donation to United Way helps:

  • Provide hot meals and groceries to low-income individuals and families.

  • Prevents eviction and loss of utility services for households in crisis.

  • Provides support for victims of domestic violence with access to shelter and advocacy.

  • Supports children in foster care by providing an advocate and voice for children in care.

  • Provides homeless individuals with access to laundry and shower facilities.

  • Provides access to basic household necessities such as toiletries and cleaning supplies.

Animal Rescue Leage of NWGA

HEALTH

We support Community Partner Agencies that provide mental health and well-being programs.

Your donation to United Way helps:

  • Support children who have been affected by violence have access to counseling.

  • Provides scholarships for kids to participate in sports and summer programs to ensure access to programs that support health and wellness.

  • Provides support and counseling services to adults who have been victims of sexual assault.

  • Provide programs to support parents and children in growing healthy families.

  • Provides support groups for individuals and families affected by domestic violence.

  • Connects individuals raising family members.
