Claire Norman is excited to be back in Gordon County

Claire Norman recently joined United Way of Gordon County as the new Marketing and Engagement Manager. Claire and her husband of almost twenty-eight years, Wayne Norman, have recently returned to the Gordon County area after being away for seven years.

Claire previously lived in Gordon County for twenty years with her husband and kids, Hunter and Mary Claire. Now that the kids are married, it felt like the right time to get back to making an impact.

Claire is no stranger to improving the lives of Gordon County residents. Through her work with the Calhoun Women's Club, Claire raised funds with the Sequoyah Ball, which benefited local agencies, many of which are current United Way Partner Agencies. Claire's work with the Calhoun Women's Club spotlighted the need in our community for a safe place for kids to go after school, leading to Claire championing the need for a local Boys and Girls Club organization.

Claire helped start the Boys and Girls Club of Gordon County, which is now a part of the larger Murray, Whitfield, and Chattooga chapter. Claire has continued to volunteer her time with the Boys and Girls Club of Gordon County and served as the corporate board President and on the local Area Committee. She was also instrumental in assisting the Gordon County Government in writing and receiving the Department of Community Affairs Community Development Block Grant that provided seed money to purchase the club's current building. Claire was awarded the 2008 National Medallion Award from the Boys and Girls Club of America.

Claire is passionate about connecting the Gordon County community with needed services. She looks forward to broadening her support of the local community and Partner Agencies to ensure more people have access to programs supporting education, basic needs, and health.

United Way of Gordon County Executive Director Stacy Long is excited to have the opportunity to work with Claire, "She brings excitement and energy to the role and will work tirelessly to raise funds to support our Partner Agencies." Claire and Stacy met when Stacy was a loan assistant at Georgia Bank and Trust, and Claire was on a mission to open the Boys and Girls Club in Gordon County. "Claire's drive and passion are the reasons the Boys and Girls Club of Gordon County exists today. Claire loves people and wants them to achieve their best. This is why I hired her," said Director Long.

Claire is all about family. When she is away from work, she entertains and gathers with family and friends. Many afternoons, Claire can be found on the golf course with her husband, Wayne, or enjoying a walk with her puppies, Divot or Bogey. If you haven't already met Claire, stop by the Calhoun Depot and get to know her.

United Way of Gordon County is proud to have Claire join our team and help make #United4Gordon create an even greater impact here in Gordon County.
