Meals/Food Resources During COVID-19

See below for how our community is taking steps to ensure that food is available for our children, adults, and the elderly.

  • Food Banks
  • School Meal Plans
    - Calhoun City Schools
    - Gordon County Schools
  • Voluntary Action Center
    - The Voluntary Action Center's (VAC) Community Kitchen will continue to provide hot meals in a "To-Go" fashion from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at their office lobby. They ask that anyone who is sick to stay at home. They will provide To-Go plates to all individuals. If you would like to deliver meals to elderly neighbors, you may pick-up To-Go Boxes at the VAC. All you will need is their name and date of birth.
    - The VAC's Food Pantry will continue to operate from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. Their staff will verbally verify your information and will not be punching cards. All are encouraged to pick up food on behalf of an individual, but you must be able to provide their name, date of birth, and home address.
  • The Frosty Kreme
    - While schools are closed, all students K-12 are welcome to come to the Frosty Kreme between 11 AM and 1 PM and either get a grilled cheese, chips and drink or a hotdog, chips and drink FREE OF CHARGE! They are also offering delivery. Visit the Frosty Kreme's Facebook page for updates.
