Unity Run XXVIII

United Way of Gordon County is excited to announce its 28th Annual Unity Run 5K is scheduled for Tuesday, September 28, 2021. This year’s 5K race is in person, and will be held in a more traditional format with staggered start times to limit congestion at the start line. Since 1994, the Unity Run 5K has signaled the official start to the United Way of Gordon County’s annual fundraising campaign.  The Unity Run 5K is a fundraiser for United Way and raises money for our community partner agencies in Gordon County.

The 27th Unity Run will be Virtually this Year - November 23 - December 7, 2020

The UNITY RUN 5K will look a little different this year. With COVID-19 affecting how we plan our day-to-day, we have decided to hold the 27th race virtually this year, which will take place November 23 - December 7, 2020.  A virtual race is a lot like a traditional 5K. You can run/jog/walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, or at the gym. You can run your own race, at your own pace and when it is convenient for you!

United Way’s COVID-19 Response + Recovery Fund

At United Way of Gordon County, the health and safety of our community is a top priority. Like many, we are closely monitoring the continuing developments related to the novel coronavirus COVID-19, and will be following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Georgia Department of Health, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, AdventHealth Gordon, and local city and county health departments.

Dancing with the Stars Postponed

In accordance with Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidance to limit large gatherings for the next eight weeks, on Monday, March 30, the United Way of Gordon County Board of Directors and the agency’s Dancing with the Stars Planning Committee announced its decision to postpone this year’s “Mohawk Presents Calhoun Dancing with the Stars” event.

Jennifer Latour, executive director of United Way of Gordon County, confirmed that all parties have been notified and that additional information about new dates and times will be provided when decisions are in place.

United Way Exceeds 2020 Campaign Goal

As I reflect on this past year and the 2020 campaign season, I am reminded of just how fortunate we are to live in such a giving community. The United Way of Gordon County exceeded its 2020 campaign goal of $750,000 with a total amount of $800,500 pledged to our community. Without our donors, we would not be able to invest in programs that support, advocate, and uplift the people in Calhoun-Gordon County.
