1% of the funds raised, not pledged, goes to United Way Worldwide.  That 1% is paid by the Board of Director’s contribution to United Way of Gordon County.  Last year that amount was an approximate $5,000.00.

Each year the 18 United Way agencies must re-apply for funding and go through an allocation panel review process. Members from the community volunteer to serve on allocation review panels that assist in recommending the amount of funding for each agency and evaluate the mission of each agency.

United Way of Gordon County has three fundraising events each year the Unity Run the last Tuesday in September as the Kick-off Event for the Annual Fund Raising Campaign, Mohawk Presents Calhoun’s Dancing with the Stars in May, and the Fairmount United Memorial Day Festival.

Your dollars stay in Gordon County helping this community unless the donor specifically asked that their dollars go somewhere else. The contribution can be designated to go to specific agencies.
